I live with my wife, Elayne, in our home in Southeast Portland, from where we enjoy travel, skiing, hiking, backpacking, astronomy, and scuba diving.

Elayne is the coordinator for the Cascade Ferret Network and I maintain the web page.

I am a black belt (2^nd Dan) and student at Bettencourt's Taekwon-Do America where my primary instructor is Master Bettencourt (7^th Dan).

I am the retired demi-god Wulfblat on the MUD Ragnarok. I am a proof reader for Thomas Miller's amazing Adventurer's saga, a priveledge I very much enjoy.

I have a BS in Geology from Memphis State University, and have worked as a software engineer since 1979. I've spent much of my career working in the UNIX kernel on a variety of architectures ranging from PCs and workstations to massively parallel supercomputers. In April of 1998 I came to Oracle Corporation.
